Loan watch: Hodson's Brentford miss out

Loan watch: Hodson's Brentford miss out
The season ended in dramatic fashion for Lee Hodson, who was denied automatic promotion by a last-gasp Doncaster winner on Saturday.

Hodson was an unused substitute as the Bees shot themselves in the foot to miss out on promotion to the Championship.

Taking on second-placed Doncaster Rovers, Uwe Rosler's men were awarded an injury time penalty which former Watford loanee Marcello Trotta smashed the crossbar with.

Donny broke, and with Billy Paynter leading the charge before picking out James Coppinger, Rovers scored at the death to secure the League One title.

Brentford are consigned to the play-offs as a result of the cruel 1-0 defeat.

In total, Hodson has made 11 starts & six substitute appearances in all competitions.

In the npower Championship, Craig Forsyth signed off for Derby County by conceding a penalty as the Rams went down 2-1 at Blackpool.

Forsyth played the full 90 minutes and was booked in the process before being re-called to Vicarage Road.

In total, the Scot made 10 Championship starts for County.

Back in League One, Stephen McGinn helped Shrewsbury Town to a 3-2 win over already-relegated Portsmouth.

The Shrews raced into a 3-0 lead before Pompey rallied.

McGinn played the final 15 minutes taking his total with the Shrews to 12 starts and six sub appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.

Chris Iwelumo was an unused substitute as Leyton Orient held Oldham Athletic to a 1-1 draw.

In total, Iwelumo made five starts and three substitute appearances for the Latics, scoring once.

Steve Leo Beleck was uninvolved for Stevenage as the Hertfordshire outfit closed their campaign.

Beleck made six starts and seven sub appearances for Boro' without scoring.

Finally in League Two, Britt Assombalonga's Southend United could not be inspired by a pre-match talk from talkshow host Jeremy Kyle, going down 1-0 to Morecombe at home.

The defeat ends a season of disappointment for the Shrimpers who missed out on the play-offs and lost the JPT Final to Crewe Alexandra.

Assombalonga came on after 57 minutes, taking his United total to 46 starts, three substitute appearances and 16 goals across all competitions.
