The Vital Interview: Matej Vydra

The Vital Interview: Matej Vydra
FOR Matej Vydra, the decision to move to Watford on-loan last summer was an easy one, so long as the Czech had his good friend Daniel Pudil alongside him.

In the event, Pudil joined on-loan from Granada and Vydra joined on-loan from Italian side Udinese, with both excelling since.

Speaking to VitalWatford without Pudil acting translator, Vydra explains the significance of his friend's presence in WD18.

"For me, coming to Watford, the most important thing for me was Daniel Pudil.

'My agent asked me if I wanted to come to Watford. I said 'If I go with Pudil. If he doesn`t come, I don`t come.` It`s very important for me, he speaks English!"

The 20-goal striker continues:

'For the first three or four months he helped me a lot, with translating, with apartments, with training. I stayed with him for the first three months and then I moved to another apartment,' reveals Vydra.

England became the fourth different country the Chotebor-born forward has played in during his relative short career, having turned out in his native Czech Republic, Belgium and Ital previously.

And, as Vydra explains, there is a big difference in attitude towards young players in Italy and England.

"In Italy it`s very difficult because not a lot of young players get the opportunity to play. If you are young there, the club put you in the academy.

"If you are 27 years old, in England you can play against 16 or 17-year-olds."

REMEMBER! This is just an extract from the full Vital Interview, which will appear in Saturday's matchday programme for the Cardiff City game.
