Internationals: Hoban returns in Ireland win

Defender Tommie Hoban returned to action on Tuesday night as he helped the Republic of Ireland's U19s beat the Czech Republic.

The 19 year-old defender had been out of action since playing in the 4-3 defeat by Charlton Athletic on New Year's Day.

Hoban played the full 90 minutes as Ireland's U19s overcame the Czech counterparts thanks to goals from Ryan Coombes and Kenneth McEvoy.

Additionally, Watford have struck an agreement with the FAI which will see Hoban return to the club without playing in Ireland's second match against the Czechs on Thursday.

With Joel Ekstrand seeming unlikely to feature against Crystal Palace on Friday, Gianfranco Zola appears keen to call upon the services of Hoban instead.

Loanee Nathaniel Chalobah was also in action last night for England's U21s, picking up his second cap.

The Chelsea midfielder came on in the 67th minute, replacing Blues' team mate Josh McEachran.

England won 4-0, with a brace from Tom Ince and one each from Jonjo Shelvey and Connor Wickham.

Sean Murray started for Ireland's U21s this afternoon, who lead the Netherlands 3-0, at the time of writing.

Connor smith pulled out of the same squad to stay at home on work on his rehab following injury.

Cristian Battocchio also started for Italy's U20 side who kicked off against Germany this afternoon.

Daniel Pudil is not part of the Czech Republic side facing Turkey, the wing-back was only ever on standy-by.

Matej Vydra will hope to be involved, whilst Nyron Nosworthy and Jamaica play Mexico on Thursday morning.
