Opposing View: Barnsley

Opposing View: Barnsley
Vital Barnsley editor 'Chiefred' gives us his views on the Tykes ahead of Saturday's clash...

Hopes for the season?

At Barnsley we know it is difficult to compete in the Championship so all we as fans hope for is to avoid a relegation battle and to finish somewhere in mid table.

Obviously the dream of reaching the Premiership again is something that fans never give up on but a realistic hope would be a mid-table finish.

Fears for the season?<.b>

The fear for every Barnsley fan every season is relegation to League One. A more long term fear is that if we did get relegated that we may struggle to come back with the ever decreasing crowds and financial struggles at the club.

Expectations for the season?

The expectations are that we will be in a relegation battle which looks to be the case so far. The bottom five seem to be adrift a bit at the moment. The appointment of Mick McCarthy at Ipswich seems to have rejuvenated them so I reckon it`s three from four. I would take fourth from bottom now.

How have the four recent loan signings done?,/b>

All look pretty good so far and have improved the squad and competition for places -

Tudgay - scored his first goal against Burnley on Tuesday. Looking better with every game as he gets more match fitness.

Greening - neat and tidy, doesn`t give the ball away, looking good so far.

Buzsaky - looks a good player. Not everything he tries comes off for him but once he settles I think he could be the pick of the bunch.

Sinclair - just had cameo`s from the bench so far so hard to make a real judgement on him yet.

Is Keith Hill under pressure?

I think the board are more sensible than that but if we don`t get a win soon I think he could be in trouble. In general the board are realistic and don`t expect the ridiculous. They`ve backed him with these loan signings so I think the
Wednesday game at home on the 15th could be a decisive one for Keith.

Who will the Tykes key man?

Craig Davies. When he was out injured we couldn`t score and were toothless up front. He`s always a threat whether he`s scoring or not and will have a pop as soon as he gets a sight of goal.

One player you'd drive to his next club & why?

Could probably name a few here but the one most would probably be Mido. Overweight with no signs of losing it, looks like he`s probably just here for some money and can`t even make the bench at the minute.

Depending on what happens with the loan players and Craig Davies in January I could see him not pulling a shirt on again for the rest of the season and having left the club with one appearance and a year`s worth of wages.

One Hornet you'd snare & why?

Don`t know much about most of the players in your squad at the minute but I`d go for Vydra purely on the goals he`s scored.

Any injuries & suspensions?

Just David Perkins a long term injury. He`s a big miss in our midfield with his energy and none stop commitment to the cause.

I`m going for Watford 2 - 1 Barnsley.

Cheers Chiefred - no-one has a clue who plays for us these days, so you're not alone in picking Vydra for his goals

As much as Mazzarri wasn't too disappointed with a point at Swansea he does think on another day, with decisions going our way, Watford would have come away with all three.
