The Vital Interview: Marco Cassetti

The Vital Interview: Marco Cassetti
IT'S A measure of the progress that Watford have made on and off the pitch in recent times that the squad now boasts someone who has played in the Champions League and for one of Italy's great clubs in Roma, as well as being a full Italian international.

Defender Marco Cassetti remembers his debut for the Azzurri fondly:

"I was playing for Lecce at that time. I entered the story of the club of Lecce because I was the first Lecce player who the national team called upon, so for me it`s a double satisfaction because I got called up by the national team and I entered the story of the team too.'

The 35 year-old has been a breath of fresh air down the Hornet's right-flank this season, and has been a regular at right wing-back, a position he is enjoying:

"When I was young I played right midfield, central midfield and after, right-back, centre-back.

Now I prefer to play right-back and right wing-back. There`s not a lot of difference between right-back and right wing-back; just a different position. Playing wider is more tiring but if we work well with the movement it is better for all,' states Cassetti.

And, perhaps unsurprisingly for a man with such enviable top-class experience, the Brescia-born wing-back is aiming high this season in WD18:

"I hope to reach the Play-Offs minimum, maybe get promoted straight.

We work all day for that as a team and I hope the dream comes real and we have a fantastic season."

Hear hear, Marco!
