Loan watch: Garner & Assombalonga strike

Loan watch: Garner & Assombalonga strike
THERE WAS a Hornet`s match-up in League One where Dale Bennett`s Yeovil Town took on Joe Garner`s Carlisle United.

Garner was once again amongst the goals for the Cumbrians, who ran out 3-1 winners in Somerset - thankfully for Bennett, the defender was an unused substitute.

The 24 year-old has now bagged seven league goals in 13 starts for his former employers.

Elsewhere in League One, Lee Hodson was an unused substitute for Brentford.

The Bees overcame Sheffield United 2-0 at home, goals from greedy ex-Hornet Harry Forrester and Clayton Donaldson sealing the win.

Chris Iwelumo made his Notts County debut, playing the full 90 minutes as Keith Curle`s side beat Swindon Town 1-0 at Meadow Lane.

Former Plymouth Arygle and Exeter City man Alan Judge notched the decisive goal.

In League Two, Britt Assombalonga bagged his 11th league goal of the campaign to help Southend United beat Rochdale 3-1.

Assombalonga struck in the 57th minute before goals from Gavin Tomlin and Marc Laird rounded off the win for Paul Sturrock`s side.

Craig Forsyth was an unused substitute as Bradford City drew 3-3 with Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground in an end-to-end tie.

Neither Matty Whichelow nor Piero Mingoia featured for Leam Richdardson`s Accrington Stanley who drew 1-1 with Gillingham thanks to a James Beattie penalty.

In non-league action, Wealdstone`s tie at Margate was called off late, preventing Aaron Tumwa from featuring.

Stephen Hamilton-Forbes and Havant & Waterlooville fell foul of the weather too, whilst Chesham United beat Bath City 2-1 in the first round of the FA Trophy Proper.

The Generals` website is so inadequately maintained that information on Matt Bevans involvement is unclear!
