Opposing View: Millwall
Millwall supporter Bill Henderson joins us today to give us a Lions' perspective ahead of Tuesday's clash...
What were your hopes, fears & expectations for the season?
This season would mostly have been looked upon as another of consolidation after last season where we had to put a run together near to the end to stay in the division, although we were never actually dragged into a relegation battle and finished the season in 16th position.
The main fears of many were that we had not improved the side enough and some of the players we let go would have been better staying, but saying, that the last month or so has, for now, proved those fears unfounded. Can you attribute your recent impressive run of form to anything in particular?
Kenny Jackett has had a habit of playing players in positions/formations which are unfamiliar to them, although this has mainly been due to injuries or suspensions, but in the last few games he has been able to switch to a more familiar 4-4-2.
The Summer acquisitions of Scott Malone and Chris Taylor are settling into the side now and with loanee Chris Wood up front we look impressive going forward scoring 15 goals in our last 5 games.
The central defensive partnership of Danny Shittu and another loan player Mark Beevers has also been working well recently. How are Watford old-boys Dan Shittu & Darius Henderson doing for you?
Darius was our top scorer last season and has again this year been on target 7 times already, he is a strong old fashioned centre forward and has become a crowd favourite.
Danny Shittu is in his second spell after being signed last year following his release by Bolton. Although he looked slightly unfit at first, he has been a tower of strength at the heart of the defence during this current unbeaten run.
Another 'old boy' of yours will be celebrating his 5th year (to the day) since he took charge of Millwall on Tuesday.Who will be the key man on Tuesday?
Without a doubt New Zealand International Chris Wood. The 20 year old loan signing from WBA has scored 6 goals in his 9 games so far and has formed an impressive partnership with Darius Henderson. One player you'd drive to his next club & why?
There are concerns in places that our Goalkeeper, David Forde, has a tendency to flap at crosses and is a bit of a liability charging off his line at times, but, the squad as a whole I feel are working well together at the moment.
Maybe a few of the younger players, John Marquis and Aiden O'Brien in particular would benefit from being sent out on loan for a while. One Watford player you'd poach & why?
To be honest I don't know a lot about your squad other than the fact you have a few loanees from Udinese, of these, Almen Abdi looks like he gets a few goals from midfield.Do you have any injury concerns going into the game?
We have no new injuries after Saturday win at Forest. Centre halves Paul Robinson, Karleigh Osbourne plus Jack Smith are all still out, but right back Alan Dunne returns after a one match suspension.
Although you had an impressive victory at home against Leicester at the weekend and you have been a bit of a bogey sided for us in recent seasons, I would expect our run to continue with a 1-1 draw.Cheers Bill - and congratulation to Hornet's legend Kenny Jackett ahead of his fifth anniversary at the Den!
