Loan watch: Garner helps seal Cup progress

WITH THE FA Cup First Round kicking off this Saturday, it was a quiet weekend for Watford`s band of loanees, with just two from seven featuring for their loan clubs.

Joe Garner was on the score-sheet once again for Carlisle United as the Cumbrians demolished non-league Ebbsfleet United 4-2.

Garner grabbed the fourth in the 87th minute after David Symington, Liam Noble and James Berrett had put the tie out of sight for Ebbsfleet, who had Moses Ashikodi amongst their substitutes.

Garner has now bagged five goals in nine league and cup starts for Greg Abbott`s side.

Elsewhere, new Havant & Waterlooville loan signing Stephan Hamilton-Forbes started for the Blue Square South Hawks in their league tie against Welling United.

A goal from former Chesham United forward Ross Lafayette secured the win for Welling.

Piero Mingoia, Matty Whichelow (Accrington Stanley), Carl Dickinson (Portsmouth), Craig Forsyth (Bradford City) & Britt Assombalonga (Southend United) did not feature under the terms of their loan deals.
