'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Vital Interview: Mark Yeates

IF THERE is one member of the Hornet's squad to have benefitted from the change in system, it's winger-turned-central-midfielder, Mark Yeates.

The 27 year-old Irishman has been a revelation in the centre of the park since Gianfranco Zola arrived and the former Spurs man isn't surprised.

"It`s a position I really like, I played it all the way through the youth team at Tottenham and at Brighton and Swindon.'

However, another change in system, to 3-5-2, hasn't been as beneficial for Yeates with Nathaniel Chalobah taking his place in the middle of the park alongside Jonathan Hogg and Almen Abdi.

Yeates is fully aware of the situation however: "I think if you`re getting in the 18 it shows you`re doing something right and obviously competition is good between the players,' admits the former Sheffield United & Middlesbrough man.

The Dublin-born flyer only has good words for the Hornet's Head Coach too, having been signed by his predecessor Sean Dyche.

"As with all the boys he gives you a bit of a boost and makes you feel 10 foot tall because it`s Gianfranco Zola speaking to you - someone we all watched in the Premiership, probably one of the best players that`s ever come over.

"Someone like that saying positive stuff to you it can only be good."

Remember, this only an extract from Saturday's matchday programme. If you want to read the full in-depth interview with Mark Yeates, make sure to pick up a copy from in and around Vicarage Road!
