Loan watch: Britt bags brace

Britt Assombalonga led the way for our loan trio once more, bagging a brace for Southend United at the weekend.

The Hornet's young forward took his tally to four goals in just five league games for the Shrimpers who beat Dagenham and Redbridge 3-1.

Having met Adam Thompson's Wycombe Wanderers the weekend before, Dale Bennett's Wimbledon visited Roots Hall during the week for a Johnstones Paint Trophy match; Assombalonga's Southend running out 2-1 winners.

Bennett's Wombles were beaten at the weekend, going down 2-0 to Aidy Boothroyd's Northampton Town.

Goals from Alex Nicholls and Chris Hackett secured a comfortable victory at Sixfields in a game which Bennett played.

Finally, Thompson was left out of Wycombe's 1-1 draw with Cheltenham Town.
