Walker scores in Iron win

Midfielder Josh Walker had a productive weekend, bagging a goal in Scunthorpe's victory at Chesterfield.

The Iron defeated John Sheridan's JPT Trophy Winners 4-1 with Walker bagging the decisive second.

A brace from Jordan Robertson and one from Andy Barcham secured victory for the Lincolnshire outfit. David Mirfin also played 90 minutes for Alan Knill's side.

Elsewhere in League One, Brentford defender Adam Thompson played 90 minutes at centre-half for the Bees who defeated MK Dons 2-1 in Buckinghamshire.

Goals from Jonathan Douglas and Charlie MacDonald did the damage for the north Londoners.

Colchester United and Gavin Massey had a less than successful week, the striker playing in Tuesday's 3-1 reverse at Walsall before failing to feature on Saturday.

Former Hornet Mat Sadler got his first career goal in the Saddler's midweek win over the U's.

In the Blue Square Premier, Hayes & Yeading midfielder Piero Mingoia chalked up his third appearance for his new side.

The Italian-born playmaker helped his side to a 2-1 victory at Southport, former Hornet Jamie Hand bagging the opener having returned from a failed spell with Luton Town.

Hard luck Jamie...

Goalkeeping union Rene Gilmartin (Crawley Town) and Jonathan Bond (Bury) were not in action as Michael Kuipers and Trevor Carson preferred between the sticks.

Congratulations to those who were successful this week!
