Quiet weekend for Watford loanees

Only three Watford players out on loan got game time at the weekend, all featuring in 1-1 draws for their respective clubs.

Scunthorpe United pair Josh Walker and David Mirfin
both got 90 minutes for the struggling Iron at home to leaders, Charlton Athletic.

A sixth minute Bradley Wright-Phillips goal put the hosts behind before on-loan forward Jon 'the beast' Parkin bagged the leveller from the penalty spot.

Scunny sit 18th in League One, just three places above the drop zone.

Also in the third-tier, returning Colchester United forward Gavin Massey came off the bench for the U's.

The Watford-born hitman got 22 minutes for John Ward's side in a 1-1 draw with Simon Grayson's Huddersfield United.

Massey and co. would have claimed all three, but for a 90th minute own goal from centre-back, Magnus Okuonghae.

Wealdstone attacker Connor Smith was in action as the Stones held Blue Square Premier outfit Newport County to a goalless draw in the second-leg of their F.A Trophy semi-final - a brave effort from the part-timers.

Gordon Bartlett's side return to league action tonight, with a visit from Met Police, kick-off is a 7.45pm.

Chez Isaac, Adam Thompson, Rene Gilmartin and Jonathan Bond did not feature for their respective loan clubs at the weekend.
