'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hornet's linked with Crewe midfielder

In spite of the fact Watford haven't got 750k to spend and the fact we've got two midfielder's who can't get near the team, Malky Mackay is apparently after another.

According to The Football Newtworl the Hornet's are amongst a clutch of N.Power Championship clubs chasing Crewe Alexandra's Ashley Westwood.

The 20 year-old central midfielder has made just 51 career appearances, the bulk of them coming last season with League Two Alex. The Nantwich-born midfielder has made 13 appearances this season scoring four goals from a deep-lying midfield position.

Westwood is also capable of playing centre-half and spent a brief spell on loan at local club Nantwich Town in 2008. He was named Crewe Alexandra Player of the Season last year.

Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United are also apparently tracking the versatile 5'9' youngster.
