Midweek Memoirs of Mr Bodell

Midweek Memoirs of Mr Bodell
You find me this week in a much more positive frame of mind after collecting a point at the Hawthorns. Never fear though, I`ve still been able to find things to moan about!

Chelsea`s team selection, or more specifically, Avram Grant`s. Does he want to win the league that is fast slipping away from him, or is he content with second spot and the probable P45 headed his way? Because, if he wants to be gone, I know a man 99% of Chelsea fans would want back!

The title is over, I think we`ve all conceded that. Congratulations to Manchester United who even kindly gave everyone else a 3-match head start in those poor stuttering opening three games.

Arsenal need to buy some more quality. It`s uncontestable that they have it by the bucket load, but they need a bigger bucket. Their season fell apart with injury, suspension and lack of experience prominent. A few new signings are needed, and not ones for the future, one`s ready to fit in now. Someone to challenge at centre back because Senderos isn`t good enough. Another versatile midfielder and a striker, an out and out striker, like Adebayor, to play with him.

Watford`s Team Selection. Very strange of late, no Collins John for two games now, not even in the 16; even if he hasn`t set the world alight, he`s surely worth a place amongst the subs as an impact player? Then the omission of Jay DeMerit at the Hawthorns. If Jay wants to leave in the Summer, I understand why, since being made club captain, everyone but him has worn the armband, even when fit, and he`s been played out of position, dropped to the bench, and dropped out the sixteen altogether. I`d have him back at centre back and move Bromby out to the right, or have Mariappa on the right and bench Bromby, either way, DeMerit should figure.

Lack of cutting edge, it`s been evident for weeks now, and it`s just another excuse to put John on the bench. Priskin can evidently do it at this level, judging by his goals for Preston, but our style and theirs is completely different. Though they are at the wrong end of the league, they`ve gotten four points out of us and he can score for them. Does that not say something?!

What`s happened to Tommy? A worldbeater at the beginning of the season, and now half the player he was. What has happened, he had Player of the Season sewn up, but his performances have dropped off. He was evidently unfit at West Brom and Paul Robinson wasn`t attacked once.

Why was Mat Sadler dropped? Especially for the donkey that is Jordan Stewart? What has he done wrong, in my opinion, he hasn`t put a foot wrong since arriving, he`s been solid as a rock. So why drop him? What message is that sending out? Play well, get dropped and then be replaced by a donkey who nearly gives a goal away. Seems fair to me, not.

Off the field, the ticket office have annoyed me with their stupid policy for Blackpool. I understand it`s gonna probably be a sellout, but this technology thing is an annoyance. Why can`t we go back to stubs? I`ve got eight, three of the required, but they`re all on a friend`s card who has done the bookings all season. So he`s fine, except he`s Harry the Hornet, hasn`t got a season ticket and can`t go because of that! Is the club at all in touch with their fans?

And finally, I`ve stopped calling 'Aidy`, 'Aidy`. It`s Adrian until he earns the right to a nickname back, 'cos I`m not terribly fond of him at the moment.

Keep the faith,

Tom Bodell
