On July 1 2013, former Reading striker Uche Ikpeazu joined Watford on a three-year contract.

The Nigerian striker enjoyed a phenomenally successful 2012/13 campaign with the Royals` Under-18 side, notching a whopping 28 league goals - including an incredible five hat-tricks - in the Under-18s Barclays Premier League.

Ikpeazu also bagged the club`s 'Scholar of the Season` award in the process.

Born in London, Ikpeazu was previously part of Queens Park Rangers` youth setup and went some way to avenging his release by the R`s last season, bagging one of those hat-tricks in the 7-4 demolition of the Hoops.

During the 2011/12 campaign, Ikpeazu picked up invaluable first-team experience on-loan with Didcot Town - scoring on his debut against Thatcham Town.

Reading`s Head of Youth Development, Colin Barnes said that the Biscuitmen had high hopes for the prodigious young talent: "We have high hopes for Uche - he is a good athlete with a fantastic attitude and lots of potential. We are delighted to have him at Reading."

Ikpeazu models his game on his hero, former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, and is not unlike the Ivorian powerhouse in his physique.

Writing on Here Is The City, Matthew Nash said of Ikpeazu: "Uche is tall, strong and relentless in attack and is starting to add the clinicality that he may have once been lacking - as is evident in his impressive goalscoring feats this season."

Vital Reading Editor Josh Aspinall said of Ikpeazu: "First and foremost, Uche is an out and out striker. His form for our Under-18 side was outstanding last season, scoring nearly 30 goals and even managed an incredible five hat tricks during the campaign, against the likes of Chelsea and Everton.

"His style of play has been likened to Didier Drogba`s, for his physical yet fair approach and [it] seems strange when Ikpeazu only stands at 5`10".

"Obviously, when you consider his goal ratio, in front of goal he is very composed, but even outside the area, he has a superb strike of the ball. At the age of 18, he has great pedigree and potential to be a top centre forward."

On January 13, Ikpeazu joined League One Crewe Alexandra on loan for the season.
