Former Brescia and West Ham United Director of Football Gian Luca Nani was appointed to a similar role at Vicarage Road in July 2012.

Nani, 50, joined Brescia as their Director of Football in 1999 and was heralded as being the man responsible for the development of Italian talents such as Andrea Pirlo, Luca Toni and Roberto Baggio.

In March 2008, Nani moved to the Boleyn Ground to take up the role of Director of Football. In 2010, Nani left east London after a hit-and-miss spell in the capital.
