Joe Garner became Sean Dyche's 10th signing when he joined the Hornet's on deadline day, August 2011 for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal

Garner endured a frustrating first season at Vicarage Road, finding himself a fringe player with Troy Deeney, Chris Iwelumo and Marvin Sordell regularly selected ahead of him.

However, the sale of Sordell to Bolton Wanderers saw Garner selected more frequently, and on the night Sordell exited the Vic', Garner started and scored his first Hornet's goal in the 2-0 win at Millwall.

An industrious player, with a neat touch, Garner was often utilised in a wide right-hand midfield role towards the end of the campaign, during which he still made 22 appearances.

From September to December 2012, Garner enjoyed a loan spell with former club, Carlisle United.

Contracted until June 30 2012
