Second year professional Connor Smith signed his first pro' contract with the Hornets after completing his scholarship ahead of the 2012/13 season.

Smith shot to fame as the runner-up on the reality television programme, 'Football's Next Star', on Sky Sports - the prize for the winner was a contract with Inter Milan.

Luckily for the Hornets, the Irish youth cap came second and joined the club's Harefield Academy before spending much of the 2011/12 season out on-loan at local non-league neighbours, Wealdstone.

Having made his debut for the club on the first day of the 2012/13 season as a substitute at Selhurst Park, Smith continued to feature in the matchday squad and was rewarded with a new long-term contract in September.

On January 8 2014, Smith moved on loan to League One Gillingham for thre remainder of the season to further his development.

Contracted until June 30 2016
