Watford 3 - Blackpool 4

Vicarage Road

Watford 3-4 Blackpool

For the second consecutive weekend, Watford surrendered three points at home to a team who had at one point had seemingly no way back into the game.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory has become a nasty habit of the Hornet`s of late with Wolves coming to Vicarage Road last weekend and taking all three after Tommy Smith`s penalty miss proved costly. This weekend, the former Derby man converted his penalty to put Watford 3-2, but once again it was the route to failure as Blackpool snatched two goals.

Watford took the lead after four minutes, Will Hoskins benefiting from Grzegorz Rasiak`s beautiful backheel which set the former Miller free to fire the Hornets ahead clinically. Blackpool were level just fourteen minutes later though, Keith Southern blasting home from a similar position to where David Jones struck with his left foot a week ago.

Rasiak`s contribution continued as he nodded Watford into the lead from a Tommy Smith free kick on the wide right.

Half-Time: 2-1

Blackpool were back level on 66 but not before Smith had rolled a penalty calmly into the bottom right-hand corner. A sublime-cum-ridiculous chip from Ben Burgess that strangely caught Richard Lee out nestled in the top corner to leave the sides just a goal apart before Gary-Taylor Fletcher levelled things up following a penalty area scramble.

Glasgow Rangers loanee Alan Gow then settled the contest in the second of three injury time minutes, blasting home to beat Lee all ends up.

Full Time: 3-4

Watford: Lee, Sadler, DeMerit, Ward, Doyley, Eustace, Harley, Smith, O'Toole, Rasiak, Hoskins.

Subs: Tyler, Robinson, McAnuff, Williamson, Mariappa.

Blackpool: Rachubka, Coid, Evatt, Vaughan, Barker, Southern, Taylor-Fletcher, Jorgensen, Edwards, Gow, Burgess.

Subs: Broomes, Hammill, Fox, Camara, Mitchley.

I have to admit, after sitting through 95 minutes in -20 Degrees, we deserved to loose the game.. but leading 3 times, its stupid how we lost. Defence.. We need a defence!!!!

Entertaining game for neutral or Blackpool fan, but not for me. With the exception of looking dangerous in attack (Rasiak - Hoskins pairing developing well), we played very poorly and despite being ahead 3 times, never looked in control of the game and couldn't keep enough possession. Blackpool outplayed and outpassed us and deserved their win. Come on Aidy, I know things are tough but sort that defence out before it's too late. Come on You Golden Boys!

its ridiculous - only Wolves and Reading have scored more goals that Watford but we are shipping so many at the back it is frighening. Ward has the turning circle of a tanker and DeMerit doesn't look fit. We should be too good to go down but hey these are worrying times.

This is a good Forum, in that, no one is shouting for Aidy's Head, unlike others, besides, we could not afford to sack him! There does seem to be a real problem running through the whole of the club and as you guys know, my opinion of Simpson is so low, that i would not Pee on him, if on fire. but maybe, when The EGM is set and the truth revealed, this idiot and the other two, will be removed and the club can stabilize its self, I fear for the club, the longer Simpson is in charge, come Jan, he will look to a fire sale and we will have no one left! lets hope he goes before

has anyone heard the news Aidy has left the club by mutual consent, more like forced out to save simpsons head! Real real shame if I'm honest, I think aidy is a good manager and will be sorely missed. One teams loss another ones gain! If only Simpson would of left or got some money together we wouldn't be in this mess!! Come on you 'orns!

Us fans are in sh!! Creek now. The EGM has been called for the 1st Dec at the vic at 11am. but that story goes off the pages because of the sacking? this is real Labour Spin, Gordon Brown would be proud!! We can not sign a manager or who would even come here, because the board have the club up for sale. This is getting worse by the week, I really hate you Simpson, sorry guys, but i really do think that this cock is destroying our club!

Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) as called for the Russo's to get the WFC Board of Directors to explain what is going on? ultimitly, to have a No Confidence vote. but the russo's will not win, as Ashton has already stated his support for Simpson!, It just seems funny they announce the date the same day as Aidy goes!
