Bristol City Preview (H) - December 26

WATFORD BEGIN the second-half of their league campaign with a trip to the West Country to face Bristol City this Boxing Day.

The festively-nicknamed Robins currently sit 23rd in the N.Power Championship table and have been far from impressive under Derek McInnes, winning just three from 16.

Vital Quotes:

'We have two very big home games now and we need to maximise our opportunities to go on a run.

'That is going to be key for us because, if we don't get our home form going, we're going to struggle.

'We were encouraged by our performance (at Ipswich) and, for whatever reason, we have not been able to do that at home.

'We need to become a good team at home, we need to become a confident team at home and we need to become a winning team at home.'

Cole Skuse - weeks (fractured cheekbone)
Stephen McManus - weeks (knee)

Player to watch: Steven Davies:

The 24 year-old Scouser has immediately settled at Ashton Gate and leads the club's scoring charts with eight goals from 18 league games.

Signed for half a million from Derby County after an injury-plagued four years at Pride Park, Davies is equally comfortable up front or out wide.

Davies started his career at local outfit Tranmere Rovers before joining the Rams in 2008 for a fee believed to be around the £200k mark.

Watford Team News:

John Eustace (back)
Prince Buaben (thigh)
Nyron Nosworthy (hamstring)
Lloyd Doyley (calf)
Fernando Forestieri (hamstring)
Jonathan Bond

Player to watch: Matej Vydra:

The Czech Republic international got back on the goal trail with a brace to see of Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Watford's top-scorer has 10 goals thus far this term and should partner Troy Deeney up front once more with Argentine forward Fernando Forestieri still sidelined.

Match Facts & Stats

- Watford last lost at Ashton Gate in the league in March 1993.

- The Hornet's last defeat Bristol City in all competitions was the 2003/04 Carling Cup competition.

Ref Watch:

Mr Michael Naylor (S. Yorkshire)

- Refereed seven Championship fixtures this term.

- Has dished out 31 yellows and two reds.

- Despite Watford's excellent recent record against the Robins, the hosts hold the upperhand overall, with 33 league wins to 24.
