Sheffield Weds Preview - Home, Oct 23rd

I've dragged myself away from Football Manager 2010 to write a preview for yet another home game I can't make.

Yes, thanks to the good people at Sky moving the game to a Friday night I will miss yet another home clash. It's Sheffield Wednesday at home in the final leg of the Hornets marathon three matches in six days.

Vital Quotes:

Malky Mackay on Nathan Ellington
'He's getting himself into positions in every game he has come on,' said Mackay.

'His work-rate has impressed me from minute one of pre-season, he has shown an attitude and an application in his work to go out there, be the best he can be and improve us as a team and help us score.'

Watford Team News:

Heidar Helguson failed to make Ipswich after threatening to make his return against either them or Middlesbrough - so who knows if he'll feature tomorrow, it seems unlikely though.

Tom Cleverley is still doubtful after missing the Ipswich game whilst Nathan Ellington could be in line for a start, if Malky can really bring himself to drop top scorer Golden Graham for the Duke...

Likely Lineup
Loach
Hodson Mariappa (c) Cathcart Doyley
Cowie Eustace Jenkins Harley
Lansbury
Graham

Player to watch: Scott Loach:

Kept the Hornet's in the game up at Ipswich with a string of fine saves so the England U21 stopper will be on a high for the visit of the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday Team News:

Three Wednesday players will undergo late fitness tests to prove themselves ahead of Friday. Marcus Tudgay, Etienne Esajas and Richard Wood are all out at present with neck, knee and ankle problems.

Likely Lineup
Grant
Buxton Purse (c) Beevers Spurr
Johnson Potter O'Connor Gray
Varney Clarke

Player to watch: Darren Purse:

Poweful centre back poached on a freebie from Cardiff at the end of last season, scored against Coventry at the weekend. Appointed captain on his arrival at Hillsborough looks likely to keep former skipper Richard Wood out the side.

Vastly experienced defender with Premier League experience has also turned out for WBA and Birmingham.

Last Season:

Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Watford
Watford 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Match Prediction:

Draw. And not an exciting one.

Next up for the 'Orns:

A tough trip to West Brom next Saturday. Gulp.

Drop Graham?... I sincerely hope not!

Drop Graham? You can't be serious Tom? Would be a big help if both Tudgay and Ejasas are out for the Owls - both are quality players who have caused us grief in these games of late.
