Watford vs. Reading

Vicarage Road

Watford - Reading Preview

After back-to-back defeats for the first time this season, confidence could not be lower as Watford take on Reading who recently thumped six past Sheffield Wednesday.

Stats:

Watford - Reading last produced a goal in the Premier League in 2007 with Watford two-nil winners.

Before that, the Hornets and Royals drew three straight blanks.

Watford Team News:

Hamstring injuries for Lloyd Doyley and Tamas Priskin add to Watford's woe with Henderson, Robinson, Rasiak and Sadler already injured.

Will Hoskins should deputise for Priskin with Mariappa in for Doyley. The question remains whether or not Harley will remain at left back or move into midfield.

Player to watch: Will Hoskins

In line for his first start in a while, the young forward has never really got a fair crack of whip under Boothroyd and with four other forwards injured this is his chance.

Reading Team News:

Reading have few concerns though captain Graeme Murty is once again sidelined. Ivar Ingirmarson is unlikely to feature.

Player to watch: Stephen Hunt

A tricky, hard-working winger whose career has been tranformed by Steve Coppell. In 2005-2006, he was the most-subbed on player in the Championship, these days Coppell wouldn't start without the Irish cap.

Likely Line-ups:

Watford
Poom; Mariappa, Bromby, DeMerit (c), Harley; Williamson, Eustace, O'Toole; Smith, McAnuff; Hoskins.

Reading
Hahnemann; Rosenior, Duberry, Bikey, Armstrong; Kebe, Harper (c), Matejovsky, Hunt; Doyle and Lita.

Match Prediction:

Watford 0-2 Reading; I can't see the gloom around Vicarage Road being lifted against a team doing well with a strong squad.

Next Fixture:

West Ham - Watford [September 23rd] Carling Cup [Home]

i think its a bit stuipid saying about if harley will go in midfield because how would go lef back it not like we gt a lon line of experienced players for that postion

Will be very tough indeed, Reading are a top 6 side for sure and we were poor against a bottom 6 side on Tuesday. I would be delighted with a point... Will need to play well and get the breaks. Come On You Golden Boys & Europe!

Yep, agreed RFB-gloryhornetboys. Jackwebby - try that in English so we can have debate?

Before you get too doom and gloom i think it will suit us to play against a team that will come to attack rather than put players behind the ball like Plymouth. Against Palace, Charlton and Ipswich we did well because we could break against them and i think the same could happen again today!

Well you were right Chriswfc. A good result.
