Ugly Betty but Boothroyd ain't bored

Aidy Boothroyd was quick to confirm he`d rather take efficiency over style any day after seeing his Watford troops return to the top of the Championship tree with a 2-1 away win at Ipswich.

The Hornets gaffer told the national media "Ipswich`s home record is incredible and if we [Watford] had come here and gone toe to toe with them we would have been beaten. That was never gonna happen. We are in the business of winning - We play to our strengths. Efficiency comes first and style follows".

He added 'People will say boring Watford again. But it was a fair result."

Indeed they did and indeed it was.

Even Tractor Boys boss admitted his side had played second fiddle to Boothroyd`s effective Hornets "The better team won. I thought they came here and did a real professional job on us. They didn`t let us play. We were second best all game".

But whilst the catcalls across the Sunday papers point towards Watford winning ugly, Boothroyd insisted he isn`t concerned by his sides output as long as 3 points are in the bag.

He said 'In terms of winning this was a ten out of ten effort. In terms of style, it was probably a 5 out of 10"
