Blade Bromby makes move to Hornets

Watford have completed the quick fire transfer of versatile Sheffield United defender Leigh Bromby for a fee of £600K (rising to £800K based upon promotion clauses and appearances).

The 27 year old centre back/right back, who comes armed with one of the longest throws in football (a weapon no doubt Aidy Boothroyd will put to good effect), put pen to paper on a 3 ½ year deal in a deadline day switch described by Watford as "done in almost record time".

Bromby jumped the Steel City divide when he moved from Wednesday to Sheffield United in 2004 and played his part in over 120 games for the Blades, scoring 6 goals.

Has been excellent for us in the past although he's gone off the boil a little. Ironically his downturn seemed to start when he had an absolute nightmare against you at the Lane in 05/06. Probably better at CB than RB as he isn't the best at getting forward. Lacks a bit of physical strength but is good on the ball.

PS You're not the first Vital site to fall foul of the image which changes to Jagielka for some reason when you put it up - I've done that as well!

I would like to point out my article has no pic as I could not find a Bromby image. The boss' does have...Jagielka. They both have poncy hair, thats it in similarity appearance-wise, right?

Although the smaller image on the home page is Bromby...strange...

Bromby is just an average player and no more, has a long throw which is useful. £600,000 is about right for him. Hope he does well for you lot.

Cheers. I can only remeber seeing him at the 'Vic once or twice, didn't stand out especially, but if I'm frank, he'd have to be amazingly BAD to be worse that Matt Jackson.

brombs is a very average player unfortunately as more off days than on days, his long throw is dangerous but is very predictable to opposing teams. brombs aint that confident player either as he does tend to get knocked off the ball alot he also tends to not read the game as good as the perhaps he should resulting in other defenders having to bail him out. overall very average but on his day also very committed to the cause 600k not a bad fee to say he was a free transter from the poor relation snortbeasts across the city. good look brombs!!!
