Boothroyd: Fitness the key

Watford supremo Aidy Boothroyd gave his reaction to the 4-0 mauling of Coventry City at Vicarage Road.

'Today's one of those banana skin games for us because, despite the good run they were on as well, we're very much expected to win,” Boothroyd told the club’s official site.
'Coventry came to slow the game down and did a job on us for most of the first half. It was niggly at times and they played five at the back to stop our width but we've learned to be able to deal with all sorts of challenges and really showed how after the break,” added Boothroyd.

Boothroyd acknowledged that the Golden Boys’ superior fitness levels played a key part in the demolition of the Sky Blues. 'I knew there was only one team going to win the game when fitness levels started to tell as the game wore on.' However Boothroyd, who celebrated his thirty-fifth birthday on Wednesday, was quick to acknowledge that high-flying Watford have not actually achieved anything yet. “But I will say that we still haven't achieved anything yet and the players know that's the way we'll continue to operate.”We've always got to look forward and look to develop - it's got to be that way. “There’ll be things we could have done better and we'll have that on board by the time we get to Elland Road.

Looking forward to the six pointer against Leeds United on Tuesday Aidy added,
'It's a big game on Tuesday and we'll be ready for it.'
