Marlon to be King pin at JJB

Marlon to be King pin at JJB

Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of Marlon King from Watford after Fulham withdrew from the race following failed attempts to renegotiate the transfer fee.

King joins the Latics for an undisclosed fee reckoned to be in the region of between £4.5m-£5m and has put pen to paper on a 3 ½ deal at the JJB Stadium.

And the good news for Marlon is that already he`s being talked up by the club, who admit he`s a great capture for them…

A delighted Steve Bruce said: 'I've been looking to bolster our attacking line up and Marlon certainly fits the bill. He's a proven finisher who provides us with a different kind of goal-scoring threat…"

The Wigan boss went on to add "I believe he is the kind of player who could make a real difference to us. He's an aggressive, with great pace and a natural ability to finish"

OK, so it`s probably not quite the move Marlon wanted to make (after all, part of his decision to talk to Fulham involved him not having to move house (allegedly) ) and he`ll still be caught up in a relegation scrap but hey, wages closes to £40k a week aren`t to be sniffed at you know…

But lets`s face it, he wasn`t likely to get a warm reception if he came back to ply his trade at Watford once the Fulham deal had fallen down was he!
