1m Matt to lift Aidy's Blues

Let`s all thank The Mirror for putting some sunshine into our dire Wednesday morning here at VitalWatford Towers.

The redtop`s finest sports hacks reckon the Hornets are about at splash out a cool 1m on Birmingham City left back Matt Sadler a move that will end Aidy Boothroyd`s year long search for a decent left footed defender.

Sadler has been linked to Watford for a couple of months now so it might be a simple bit of lazy journalism but the on-off saga at St Andrews as the Blues pursued Hibs left back David Murphy has come to an end (thanks to a 1.5m move) so a deal does look likely.

As a former England U18 and U19 captain, Sadler looks handy. He would have worked with FA Coaches Dick Bate and Martin Hunter in Boothroyd`s backroom staff before (during his Young Lions days) and has a bagful of Championship experience, having been a first choicer in the Blues promotion season last time out.

Go get him Aidy.
