Watford's Aidy out to 'Rout' Spurs

Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd will be on red alert this week after it was revealed in the national press that Tottenham Hotpsur could be about to offload winger Wayne Routledge.

The lightening quick ex Palace wideman has been on the top of Boothroyd`s wanted list for some now and the Hornets gaffer tried to sign the Spurs flyer on emergency loan in November before turning his attentions to Lionel Ainsworth.

Routledge has endured a tough spell in North London being shipped out on loan to Portsmouth and Fulham and it is believed that the 22 year old will turn down the chance to rejoin Palace on loan in favour of a permanent move away from White Hart Lane.

The former England U21 star has also caught the eye of Sunderland after being frozen out of action under the new Juande Ramos regime - He is yet to feature in a matchday squad under the Spaniard and has failed to make the 18-man cut in the UEFA Cup whilst promising youngsters Adel Taarabt and Kevin Prince Boateng have leapfrogged him in the pecking order.

Yet Boothroyd remains a big fan of the London born winger and said of the 2 footed paceman "I like Wayne and I`ve tried to get him a couple of times. He`s a player I do like and we`ll have to see where we go with that"

he would do a very good job for you, he has been impressive for the reserves and in his very few first team opportunities this season. I believe he needs to get a permenant move, another loan wont do him any favours nor will rotting in our reserves, knowing he has no future with us. Best of luck with the 2nd half of the season.

would be a great signing for watford if they pull it off....he is definately a prem quality winger, but has been unlucky at spurs seeing we have so many midfielders competing

Cheers oxford...and boy are we gonna need a bit of luck. Our home form is appalling!!!!! Keep up the goal fests lads.

lilywhites101 - what's this taarbat like? Young, nippy, talented - sounds a lot like Lennon in his Leeds days to me.
DrWatford
Lennon is not the same player he was 18 months ago but lets hope he comes back but I hope he signs for you as he will do a great job for you and good look this season
