Away day 'Home comforts' for Hornets

Away day 'Home comforts' for Hornets

When Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd told reporters after the away win at Sheffield Wednesday that he "might put the team on the team bus, drive them around Watford a bit, put them in the red [away] strip and emerge them from the away dressing room" in order to beat the home game hoodoo, well many had thought he`d lost the plot.

But VitalWatford can reveal that the gaffer was kinda true to his words as the entire Watford squad did indeed board the team bus at The Grove Hotel on the outskirts of Watford and were driven to the ground for the Boxing Day clash with Cardiff.

The players were even granted an overnight stay at the £330 per night 5-star hotel, (which is a mere 5 minute car ride from Vicarage Road), to relax in the comfortable surroundings enjoyed by the England squad during International week.

Mind you, it didn`t work - The Hornets still haven`t won at home since beating Hull in mid October.

Boothroyd even admitted "We trained on Christmas Day and I just thought it was something different we could do to keep them all together. I won`t be doing that on a regular basis".
