'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jones : You're not 'kit' to referee.

Cardiff boss Dave Jones reckons Watford kit man Big Bob Oleng would have had a far tighter grip on the Boxing Day championship clash at Vicarage Road than stand-in Time Warp official Ian Bentley.

Speaking after the Hornets stole an undeserved point thanks to a wonder goal from Jobi McAnuff in the 6th minute of unexplained stoppage time, Jones told the awaiting press "I`d have rather had seen a kit man take over the refereeing duties [today], he would have done a better job. This was a big game - and the fourth official should have something about him.'

Kent official Bentley, who`s only notable game in charge to date was to officiate the 2005 London FA Senior Cup Final between the footballing giants of Hendon and Fisher Athletic, took charge of the Championship clash (despite revealing to players he`d never reffed a match at such a high level) after original man in black, Grant Hegley, was forced off with a thigh strain.
