King top of goal scoring castle

King top of goal scoring castle

Following his double at Sheffield United Marlon King has overtook Cardiff’s Cameron Jerome as the Championship’s leading goal scorer.

King, who was one goal behind Jerome at the start of play last night, scored twice against Sheffield United to take his league total for the season to fifteen. The twenty-five year-old forward, who recently committed himself to the Hornets until 2008, also has six Championship assists to his name. Sponsors of the award Powerade recently named King, a £500,000 signing from Nottingham Forest, as Championship Player of the Month for January.

Fellow Hornet Ashley Young is joint sixth in the race for the Championship’s Golden Boot with ten Championship goals but it is King who sits majestically at the top of the castle of Championship goal scorers.

1. Marlon King (WATFORD) 15

2. Cameron Jerome (Cardiff City) 14
