Watford may have failed to beat Burnley at home on Tuesday, and not recorded a win since November 6th (away at Norwich), but man-mountain Danny Shittu believes Watford are the 'team to beat still'
Watford's last league win came exactly 23 days ago - nearly four weeks ago - , but Nigerian international, Shittu, is confident Watford are still a force to be reckoned with.
In fact, our last home league victory at 'Fortress' Vicarage came on the 20th of October, (1-0 Vs. Hull City). Something of a blip then for the Hornets who are now only two points clear of Tony Mowbray's Boing Boing Baggies.
So-much-so in fact Shittu has labelled Sir Aidy's promotion-chasing Golden Boys 'the Manchester United of this division'.
'We are the Man United of the division. We're still top of the league but we are the team to beat. It means the opposition are all looking to beat us and are extremely happy when they do. Everyone is geared up to take us on.
'Teams have been doing their homework and we need to learn to raise our own game. We need to get back to basics, starting with Bristol City on Saturday.
'But it would be silly to let our heads drop over this. We need to get our form back quickly but we are still on top of the league.'
Shittu has grabbed our last three goals in defeats to Burnley and Barnsley, prior to that, the towering defender had just three in a Watford shirt.
Let's hope the big man is right, 'cos I certainly wouldn't want to be in the same dressing as him and Aidy after another defeat!
