Watford legend loses fitness race

Watford legend John Barnes suffered a blow in his battle back to fitness last night after being booted off BBC1 prime time spectacular, Strictly Come Dancing.

The ex Watford, Liverpool and England wing wizard, who dazzled and dazed fullbacks throughout the 1980s with tricky footwork and pace to burn, had turned to the celebrity show in an attempt to shed a few of the excess pounds he`d put on since hanging up his boots.

Yet despite dancing his little socks off to see off a host of other celebs in previous rounds, Barnes failed to win over the viewing public and studio judges with his Samba in Sunday night`s dance off.

The VitalWatford boys can`t comment on Barnes` performance as we out playing bingo at the time. We do know, however, that his Salsa a few weeks earlier was pretty darn good technically (our reconstruction across the marbled floors of VitalWatford Towers wasn`t so foot perfect we`re afraid).

The one plus for John Barnes was that he got to 'dance off` against the rather lovely Kelly Brook and was able to ogle the gorgeous Penny Lancaster in a tiny sequined dress without being considered a 'pervert`…

Good work Barnesy.

So we`ve seen Barnes dance his way to fitness and ex Hornets striker Mick Quinn do the whole Boot Camp thing in an effort to slim down…Whatever next?

Sadly reports that one flying Watford winger and, now heavyweight nightclub DJ, Nigel Callaghan would be appearing in the next series of Dancing on Ice remain unconfirmed…(unless a reinforced rink can be found).
