'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Routledge set for Watford wing spot?

It`s one of those 'will he, won`t he' pieces of transfer speculation that simply refuses to go away but Tottenham flyer Wayne Routledge has, once again, been linked with a loan move to Watford.

The 22 year old wideman with pace to burn, was rumoured to be all set to join the Hornets on loan in last season`s January window but instead was farmed out for an extended run at Craven Cottage (lucky him!).

Now with wing wizard Adam Johnson back in the 'not so comfy' arms of Gareth Southgate, leaving Aidy Boothroyd's squad a little short in the way of experienced wing back-up, Routledge`s name is being pencilled onto Watford`s hot list as a loan target.

The VitalWatford boys reckon the ex-Palace flyer would be a good edition to the squad and given that he has a frightening chance of pace off both feet then he`d be fierce competition for McAnuff and Smith.

For the record, Routledge has picked up 12 caps for the England U21`s and had a £3m bounty slapped on his head by Martin Jol last season after impressing on loan at both Portsmouth and Fulham. But he`s only made 5 appearances for Spurs and with a new gaffer in place at White Hart Lane may be ripe for the picking.

Not a bad player, but I feel we should give McAnuff and McNamee their chance after having to play second fiddle to Johnno.
