Glory Hornet boss Sir Aidy Boothroyd may well have been surprised by what Colchester United had to offer in the 2-2 at Watford but it seems he was very much in the minority!!!
Boothroyd told the bods in the know down at the Watford official club site that 'Colchester didn't come here (Watford) to defend, they surprised me and fair credit to them. They've put bodies on the line…'
Yet the gaffers sentiments weren`t shared by 64% of you - the great VitalWatford public - who voted to say that Geraint Williams` so-called 'surprise package' performed 'as expected` to earn a point at Fortress Vicarage, in a recent fans poll.
True, Colchester did knock the ball around with a bit more quality than we all anticipated and yes it wasn`t all Div 1 kick and rush, 'eleven men behind the ball stuff' to boot but emails into Dr Watford from some VitalWatford regulars goes just that little bit further in explaining why so many Watford fans didn`t raise an eyebrow in surprise…
'A tall, awkward looking target man and a quick pacy striker? I thought they`d sold Iweluemu and Cureton' said one…
'That bl**dy Lisbie always scores against us' said other
And for the 11% of you that are voted to say you were 'still in a state of shock`, well wake up and smell the coffee sunshine!
