VitalWatford Cup Trail - Round 1

On Saturday, VitalWatford jumped on the FA Cup trail at the first round stage to put their not too considerable weight behind the hornets of Horsham FC and by jove, the West Sussex side did us proud.

Picked entirely on the fact that they share a nickname with the Glory Hornet Boys of Watford (well, we`ve backed Grand National winners on more tenuous links), Horsham only went and beat Conference South side Maidenhead Town 4-1.

A long range Nigel Brake effort, a brace from Lee Carney and a Lee Farrell strike were enough to see the Hornets from Atspeed Stadium progress in front of over 3,000 avid supporters.

Horsham, who play in the Ryman Premier Division alongside Watford`s local neighbours Wealdstone and Borehamwood, will now face Swansea City at home.

Here at VitalWatford Towers, we`re gonna stop short of ordering a new gold and green Horsham home shirt but should you wish to jump on the bandwagon, hey ho, here`s the online club shop link…
