No new deal for Watford skipper Gav

He may be fast approaching 200 league games for the Hornets but Gavin 'The Skipper' Mahon is sweating on whether or not he`ll be offered a new deal by The Good Ship Boothroyd come the end of the season.

The skipper is out of contract in July 2008 and has yet to see a new deal put on the table at Fortress Vicarage indicating he could be the man to make way, given the Glory Hornets Boys riches in the midfield department.

Playmakers Damien Francis and Gareth Williams are both heading back to fitness from long injuries, John-Joe O`Toole has emerged as a real find, Lee Williamson is teacher`s pet at present and that`s before we even touch on the South American flair of Rinaldi or Santiago Aloi, who both look handy for the ressies.

Mahon told those increasingly local folk down at the Watford Observer "I want to get back in the Premiership with Watford but that`s out of my hands. I`ve still got 7 months left so my aim is to with Watford and lift that trophy at the end of the season".

The Birmingham born midfield destructor, who was signed for just 150,000 from Brentford in 2002, was made club captain when Sir Aidy took over the reigns inWD18 and has been a mainstay in Boothroyd`s starting eleven, having missed just 5 games in last year`s ill fated premiership season.
