Watford get defensive over cover.

Watford get defensive over cover.

With Jay DeMerit leaving Vicarage Road on crutches and strapping on his calf after saturday`s defeat v West Brom, the Good Ship Boothroyd has been quick to consider all his defensive options ahead of Tuesday clash with Norwich.

Sir Aidy has activated the 24 hour recall on the experienced head of Matt Jackson, who returns early from a spell on loan at Blackpool whilst Cedric Avinel seems set to be in the squad to face the Canaries after impressing for the ressies against Millwall.

The decision to cut short Jackson`s time with Simon Grayson's Tangerine Army, after only extending his stay by a further month last week, has got the alarm bells ringing here at VitalWatford Towers.

Sure, Adrian Mariappa looked far from comfortable alongside Man Mountain Shittu against WBA but does Jackson really have the pace left in his legs to share the centre half spots with the Big Dan.

Could it be that Jay Jay is out for a bit longer than we all first imagined and that Sir Aidy wants all available cover in the ranks?

Either way, DeMerit is a big loss at a critical time when the Glory Hornets need to bounce back.
