'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Warnock gets Sir Aidy's respect

It's official, Aidy Boothroyd may NOT be a 'football genius' after all.

The 36 year-old Hornets gaffer has admitted he 'quite likes' the former Sheffield United manager.

Warnock left the hotseat at Bramall Lane last season after his Blades side contrived to suck themselves into the race to stay up at the top table, despite enjoying a good Winter period.

Since taking over at Crystal Palace a fortnight ago, Warnock's Eagles have picked up just the one point, that a draw at hard working Blackpool. They followed this up with a 3-1 defeat, at home, to Stoke.

Speaking to the Bucks Daily Press, Boothroyd revealed his true feelings for his opposite number, who he comes face to face with on Monday night

"Neil is a very passionate guy who wants to win. Sometimes he says things that get him into trouble, but that's okay. We've all done that but you have to respect his record. He gets teams up."

Sir Aidy went on to add "I quite like him and have never had any run-ins with him. You don't become a bad team overnight and if anyone is going to rejuvenate them (Palace) and give them that nastiness and organisation then it will be Neil. We know we are in for a very tough game."

Warnock saw his Palace side slip into the Championship's relegation zone today after Q.P.R beat Charlton 1-0 at the Valley.

Tickets for Monday's game are available on the door at Selhurst Park.
