Vicarage Road just right for Johnson

Vicarage Road just right for Johnson

It was bound to happen sooner or later but Aidy Boothroyd has revealed that he has been on the blower to Gareth Southgate to try and secure the services of Middlesborough winger Adam Johnson until the end of the season.

The England U21 wideman has been a revelation on loan at Vicarage Road since joining on a 3 month deal and has netted 4 times for the Hornets in just 6 outtings as the Good Ship Boothroyd marched to the top of the Championship.

And the VitalWatford boys reckon that the Riverside phone must have been hotter than than a daytime TV Show prize draw line as Boothroyd heaped praise on Johnson and let the Boro boss know that a lengthened spell at WD18 would be good for the youngster.

Sir Aid told the Harrow Times "The Premiership and the Championship are two very different leagues and Adam needs a full season to develop and grow. This (Watford Football Club) is a great place for players to develop, as we`ve shown with Gabby Agbonlahor, Ben Foster and Chris Eagles".

Go on Gareth, you know you want to.
