Poom backed to reclaim keepers spot

It was, in the end a close run thing, but VitalWatford visitors have voted Mart Poom to reclaim the Number 1 jersey ahead of Saturday`s clash with Hull.

The 6ft4 Estonian stopper, who has had a niggling back problem for 6 weeks now, picked up 54% of the fans vote in a recent VitalWatford poll on which keeper Sir Aidy should play against the Tigers, relegating local boy Richard Lee into 2nd spot.

But for a while Poom looked unlikely to receive the backing of the Vicarage Road faithful. Whether it was as a result of Mart`s misjudgement that led to England`s opening goal at Wembley (Nuts!) or the performance of stand in Richard Lee at Scunthorpe the VitalWatford boys aren`t sure…

Admittedly Poom had started the season a little rusty after making the move from being 3rd choice at Arsenal but has grown in stature and is starting to look like a top keeper.

But Sir Aidy sure has a selection headache and he knows it - He told the media bods down at the official club site "He (Poom) is such a fantastic professional, he is the epitome of professionalism.…Richard Lee has come in and done great and I've got two great goalkeepers as well as Scott Loach".

The message from VitalWatford Towers to The Good Ship Boothroyd though is loud and clear - Get Mart between the sticks.
