Santiago scores on Hornets debut
The pundits out there may all scream "Santiago Who?" but it took new Argentinian whizkid Santiago Aloi just 24 minutes into his Watford debut to open his goal account for the club.
And some strike it was too…
The 20 year midfielder with film star looks and South American swagger, on a season long loan from footballing giants River Plate, opened the scoring for the Reserves with a bullet of a 25 yard free kick that flew low past Southampton keeper Michael Poke in a narrow 3-2 defeat.
An Aloi inspired Watford rushed into a 2-0 half time lead despite fielding an inexperienced side but second half goals from Jason Euell and a brace from, Congolese International, Cedric Baseya saw the Saints home in the second half.
The VitalWatford boys reckon it sounds just too much like a rewrite of the script from the film "Goal" but we trust Sir Aidy and if the gaffer says Santiago is different gravy then 'ah, bisto!'
