'Jinky' Johnson gets England nod

'Jinky' Johnson gets England nod

Watford`s on loan wing wizard, Adam Johnson got the call up to the England U21 squad to face Montenegro and Republic of Ireland on Friday and promptly continued his hot streak in front of goal to celebrate.

'Jinky` notched up his 3rd goal in only 4 games for the Hornets with a brave close range header in the 3-1 win at Scunthorpe and is keeping £2m summer signing Jobi McAnuff on the sidelines thanks to some dazzling performances under Aidy Boothroyd.

The left winger, who is on a 3 month loan from Middlesborough, is 1 of only 5 players in the U21 squad to currently ply their trade in the Championship and on this form must be a 'dead cert` to feature in the Euro 2009 qualifiers against Montenegro and Republic of Ireland.

Johnson, who already had 1 U21 international cap to his name after appearing in August`s run out against Romania, is joined in Stuart Pearce`s squad by Wolves winger Michael Kightly, Preston defender Billy Jones, Southampton`s Andrew Surman and QPR striker Dexter Blackstock.
