Hornets 'need to come off top perch'

The Hornets may sit pretty at the top of the Championship pile having pulled in 18 points from 8 league games, but Sir Aidy reckons the Good Ship Boothroyd could benefit from a spell off top spot.

After impressive early season wins against promotion contenders Sheffield United, Wolves, Southampton and Cardiff, Watford have now put in 2 miserable performances against QPR and Blackpool prompting Boothroyd to state "We won`t be top for very long if we keep performing like that".

Sir Aidy went on to tell the bods in the know down at the official site "Maybe we need to come off the top perch for a while and get there in May, that`d be better"

The VitalWatford boys can just about see where the gaffer is coming from.

Expectation levels were raised after the great start to the season but the last 2 games have been lacklustre, lethargic and in truth, tough to watch with few players catching the eye.

With WBA breathing down their necks (after an impressive 5-1 win against the 'Not so Super` Hoops from West London) and Charlton gradually clicking into top form, a spell off from being 'Top Dog' could be just the thing to get the Glory Hornet Boys firing again.

After all, remember what happened after the 4-1 defeat away at Leicester???
