'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Who are ya?...QPR (Away)

Defeat to Leyton Orient in the Cup. No league wins in the Championship. It's been a case of the 'Not So' Super Hoops for the {er} Super Hoops of QPR so far this season...

THE GAFFER
Here at VitalWatford Towers we can`t help but feel there`s something kinda oo about Hoops boss John Gregory. Whichever way we look at the Loftus Road chief we can`t stop thinking 'Arthur Daly` and so, for that reason alone, we just don`t trust the guy.

That being said he`s probably a nice bloke with strong morals who, in time honoured London fashion 'loves his famly` and some of his press soundbites in his Villa days were just plain genius..But he`s also managed more clubs (Pompey, Wycombe, Villa, Derby, Plymouth et al) than Peter Stringfellow, which makes us extremely wary.

MORE THAN HIS 15 MINUTES OF FAME…
It must be a bit of a nightmare when you are pushed towards the Theatre of Dreams exit door at Old Trafford but ex Red Devil, Daniel Nardiello has had more than his fair share of success since leaving Man Utd. He`s bagged plenty of goals for Barnsley over the last few seasons and whilst he has yet to notch up his first league strike for QPR since his summer move, he's picked up 2 full Welsh cap so far this season.

BETTER KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON…
Republic of Ireland midfielder, Martin Rowlands, might have an injury history wider than Danny Shittu`s chest size, but boy, the guy is quickly approaching 50 league career goals from the middle of the park - which given that he`s only ever had 4 full seasons of injury free footie is pretty damn impressive. A watchful Watford eye should also be on on loan West Ham whizzkid Hogan Ephraim in midfield as well. He`s scored goals for fun for the England U17,18,19 sides and was included in the Hammers UEFA squad a few seasons back!

THE FUTURE`S BRIGHT…
Camp. (No we`re not commenting on the dress sense of the VitalWatford co-editor) but the Super Hoops` super goalie. Camp Lee signed up in the summer for £300k from Prem newbies Derby and has established himself as England U21 Number 1 stopper (hang on, it says here he`s 23!). The Loftus Road youth policy is also churning out 18yo defenders Andrew Howell and Aaron Goode, who both look handy on the ball, 19yo midfielder Stefan Bailey needs to have a big season and youngster Kieron St Aimie netted on his first senior run out in a friendly against Celtic.

THE 'MUST WIN` HEAD TO HEAD
If ever there was a centre half who`d scare the living daylights out of the VitalWatford boys in a dark alley then Danny Cullip would be that man! But then against Mssrs Ellington, Hendo and King have to face Danny Shittu in training everyday so will know all about uncompromising situations. Cullip, Zesh Reyman and Mikele Leigerwood will have their work cut out against the Hornets forwards and with Big Doris is red hot form, it will be a proper battle of blood, sweat and tears.

BIG UP TOP?
With Furlong (how could he?) and Gallen moving on, it's been a case of out with the old and in with the new at Loftus Road as Gregory rotates his strikeforce. Nardiello was all set to join Norwich until the QPR guvnor bundled him into the back of a rusty old Ford Contina at the motorway services, Shabazz Baidoo made the step up from the Academy whilst Dexter Blackstock joined up from the Saints and Stefan Moore moved in from Villa. Then of course, there`s all 6ft5 of Marc Nygaard to contend with. The Great Dane may not be as prolific in front of goal as the QPR faithful may like but he sure is a handful to air traffic control!

AIN`T YOU PAST IT?
When they wrote the word 'Journeyman` in the Football Who`s Who then the name 'Gareth Ainsworth` must have been on the tip of the tongue. Fair enough, he`s only 34 but he`s had 3 spells at Preston, scored hatfuls of goals for Lincoln, produced magic at Vale Park, put in appearances for Cambridge, Walsall and Cardiff and cost Wimbledon £2m quid - not bad for a guy who started life at Northwich Victoria. Phew! No wonder he`s out injured. All that travelling ain`t good on the joints.

DR WATFORD`S GREAT BIG 'I NEVER KNEW THAT` MOMENT
Ok, Ok! I`ll admit it. I`m not convinced about this 'I never knew that` moment as I reckon someone down at Wikipedia.org might be pulling my leg. Apparently, QPR`s Ghanaian striker Shabazz Baidoo is also known as MC Terminator - a local Grime MC - and is a member of the North London Grime crew "Cold Blooded". All this talk of 'grime` makes the VitalWatford boys feel rather grubby! Yuck.

VERDICT - THE 'GOOD SHIP BOOTHROYD` OUTLOOK
Time to steady the ship. The Super Hoops form so far has been pretty shaky at home especially and they are without a win in 6 but this is the kind of game which will give the Hornets a true taste of what to come. It`s all well and good beating fellow promotion chasers but you`ve got to pick up points on the road against teams scrapping it out for survival. QPR will mix it up a bit and play direct but the VitalWatford boys fancy the 3 points here in a close encounter. It may take 3+ goals to secure the win mind you!

Looks like our first win of the season then!

Is it a local derby? The press seem to think so? No doubt it will be close - it always is at the Road and you'd have to be a fool to gamble on a comfy Watford win.

1-1 will do thank you very much, even though you lot had more % of the play.

You had the better chances though I think.

Christ yeah - was really impressed with the pace with which QPR got forward...one of the fasted teams attacking wise we've faced this season.
