Aidy Says

Aidy Says

Following Watford's late, late, late 3-2 victory over George Burley's Southampton, Aidy Boothroyd was in somthing of a state of shock.

The 'Arsene Wengar of the Championship', one of the coolest men on the touchline was amazed by the resiliance shown by his side late on: 'I was lost for words at the end because I wanted to go and tear a strip off them for getting us in that position, but then to have that character to come back was pleasing.'

It isn't the first time Watford have come back to steal the points this season as the managed to grab a late win at Wolve: 'We did at Wolves [scoring twice in the last three minutes to win] and we've done it here today.' On that occasion the goals came from Marlon King and Jordan Stewart.

Talking of Darius Henderson, the peroxide blonde striker has a future career lined up, no, not a proffessional strongman, but as a football manager. The Doncaster-born forward advised Boothroyd that when he plays he scores and his two-goal salvo took him up to 5 goal in 3 games versus Southampton.

Yes indeed. It shows the strength of character in our players. I would like to see us go back up. Hopefully if we can keep getting results from games like these, against the better sides, it will happen.

We keep knocking out results against sides who should feature in the promotion frame but we have to make games against Sheff Wed, Hull and Blackpool count as well.

Yes - a good point. It's all very well and good beating the top sides as long as you can beat the perceived 'smaller' teams too. The ultimate Championship cliche - 'Anybody can beat anybody' is very, very true.
