On signing his new deal, DeMerit's club boss, Aidy Boothroyd, had this to say: 'From European backpacker to international footballer, a future captain of club and country. I'm delighted to secured for the future because as I've said before, I want to keep our crown jewels.'

Mr Bodell says:
'A great peice of business for the club. DeMerit is our most consisent centre back and with the Premiership club's chasing his signature, a sign of his intentions and commitment to the club.'
