Francis set for Stateside recovery

Watford`s goalscoring midfielder, Damien Francis, has, this week, has flown out for specialist rehab in the USA as he takes the next step in getting back to full fitness following a cruciate ligament injury.

The Jamaican international, who netted 5 times in the Hornet`s ill fated Premiership season - including strikes against Man Utd and Everton - had successful keyhole surgery at the back of last year after pulling up in the 1-1 home draw with Man City in March.

Francis is no stranger to being out of action thanks to his cruciate injury after missing 10 months of the 2001-2002 season in his Wimbledon days. He told the official club site "we`re talking months rather than weeks" in July, ahead of pre season.

With 36 career goals to his name and a 'championship winners medal` already pride of place on his mantlepiece (in his time at Norwich), the £1.5m signing from Wigan will bring bags of experience to Watford`s promotion drive once he`s back fit and banging on the first team door.

Meanwhile, playmaker Gareth Williams, signed from Leicester in January, is still 2-3 months away from making a return to action.
