Aidy gets his man as Ellington signs
It`s third time lucky for the Good Ship Boothroyd as the Watford supreme has finally netted goal machine Nathan Ellington for a club record initial transfer fee of £3.25m.
The 26 year old Bradford born striker, nicknamed The Duke (after the influential Jazz musician of the same name), had been heavily linked to a move to Charlton or a return to Wigan by the red-tops but has finally put to pen to paper on a 4 year deal at the Vic to end his Hawthorns nightmare.
On the official club site, Sir Aidy claimed Ellington is a 'the big one, the key piece in the jigsaw` and its easy to see why as the ex Bristol Rovers, Wigan and West Brom striker has strength, pace, 2 great feet and, most importantly, an eye for goal - netting over 130 times in his career.
Boothroyd went on to add "He (Nathan) can score all types of goals, with his left foot, right foot, headers, tap-ins, goals from outside the box and he could prove to be really potent for us".
Ellington is now expected to start alongside Marlon King in Saturday`s home clash against Ipswich Town.
