Watford capture experienced duo...

True to form, workaholic Aidy Boothroyd has already been busy in this Summers Transfer Market with the double capture of Matt Jackson and Mart Poom.

Thirty-five year-old centre half Jackson joined last week having allowed his Wigan Athletic contract to expire. During his six years in Lancashire Jackson captained the club and went on to make over one hundred and fifty appearances after initially joining on loan. At thirty-five, Jackson has been signed as cover for Jay DeMerit who will have an increasing number of international commitments with the U.S.A in the coming season.

The Hornets other signing is another thirty-five year-old, Mart Poom. A commanding figure, the Estonian captain has over one hundred caps for his country and has been the esteemed winner of the Estonian footballer of the year award six times. Poom made his name in English football when he signed for Derby County in 1997. During his six years there, Poom made 143 league starts and became a cult hero with his superb displays.

Poom continued his excellent form at Sunderland before joining Arsenal after a loan spell. During an uneventful time at Highbury he made just one appearance, that his last, away to Portsmouth, another former club and a game he celebrated with a clean sheet.

Good luck to both in their Watford careers!

Good luck to Jacko, he's not the quickest but reads the game well and he's a solid pro. He'll be missed at the Latics
